Artist's sketch

(856) 365-5600! Call Now!

The tour of the brand new Channel 6 building will be on Tuesday, July 21st. There are two tour times: 2 pm and 3 pm. Because of the sheer volume of Broadcast Pioneers attending this event, there will be no parking permitted on the 6ABC parking lot. Be aware that we are already 35% filled up, so reserve your space now.

 Reserve Now! (856) 365-5600!

This is a FREE event and is open to all our members, any person in the industry or associated fields; both people now active and retirees. You do NOT have to be a member to attend.

Make your reservations now by calling (856) 365-5600 (remember to say which tour you wish to be on). It's going to be a great turn out. Be there and say hi to old friends (and make some new ones).

WE WANNA SEE YOUR FACE IN THAT PLACE!

Help Us Save Our History !

The Broadcast Pioneers of Philadelphia since our beginning in 1962 has maintained archival material of broadcast related items for our market. Help us save our past! Please!

We are looking for donated materials. If you have or know of anyone willing to contribute any broadcast memorabilia, please contact us at 856-365-5600 or e-mail the Broadcast Pioneers at pioneers@broadcastpioneers.com. This would include photos, scans, audio, video and articles. This material may also be used on our website.

There's a nice, huge story on the Time Magazine website about Philadelphia Television in the Fifties. It mentions our website and draws from our material. Author Richard Corliss refers to this site as "invaluable...a trove of early TV memories for Delaware Valley nostalgiaholics." Visit it at: TIME MAGAZINE

Our encoding of audio and video has been upgraded for clearer, sharper and less choppy video with better sounding audio. We are using the latest technology and this may require you to download (it's free) the latest version of the Real Player, now called Real One. Items previously on our website will still work with older versions. All items will play on the most current. Once you download the latest free player, you still may be required to download older codes for everything to work. This is normal and very easy. Just follow the prompts.

Now that we have moved material to our own server, we'll no longer have the limitations set up by the free but ad based companies that previously gave us server space. This means that we can encode the audio and video files as we desire and not to the mandates of an unrelated company or organization. Much of our audio and video now rolls. That is, it goes from one files directly into the next segment. This is done for faster loading. We are also encoding with surestream. This means the file actually contains two streams. One is for dial-up connections and the other is for DSL, Cable and other broadband connections. Your computer will automatically select the correct stream.
